The Mora Mustangs faced off against the Greenway Raiders and won 3 out of four sets. In the first set Mora got a slow start but picked it up in time to get the win, the score being 25-21. The second set, Mora flew past Greenway with a win of 25-17. The third set was a different story, however, when the Raiders came from behind and took the win 25-18. The fourth set the Mustang squad got back in the groove of things and blasted the Raiders into next week with a win of 25-11. The fifth and final set was one of edge of your seat close scores. But in the end, Mora came on top with a 15-11 win. After the final score, the Mora fans came running from the stands. Hugs and tears on both sides of the court symbolized how much effort, and time these girls put into the sport they love.
Mora will advance to play the winner of the match between Cloquet and Hermanntown in a Sectional match leading to state.

Braham faced McGregor and won all three sets on Tuesday night. The first set was the most difficult out of all three for Braham to come out on top with. They started slow, allowing McGregor to have an eight point lead in the very sart, but Braham didn’t let that last too long. They pushed the pedal to the metal and rapidly outraced them to 25 when McGregor was only at 21.
The next two sets were nearly one in the same. Braham did not stop accelerating towards their victory and was relentless with that pursuit. With a score of 25-17 in the second set and 25-15 on their third, this squad was almost too good.
You can listen to this game as announced by Josh Miggler, and broadcasted on WCMP 100.9FM
The Grantsburg Pirates volleyball team played Regis in a nail biting Sectional match. The first set was a close match with Grantsburg starting as they usually do, with a slower start. Regis must have been watching some tape because once they got a leg up on Grantsburg, they punched it through, all the way to 25 points. Grantsburg did their best to catch up, but it just wasn’t quite fast enough. That set ended with Regis having the advantage 25-23
In the second set, the two squads traded toles with Grantsburg relentlessly bombing the Regis side of the net. Regis didn’t catch up to Grantsburg’s commanding lead, and the Pirates won 25-17.
The third set was a real nail biter. Grantsburg got off to a pretty quick start, having a 3 point lead 10-7. But Regis was not to go quietly and fought for every point, following them one point behind at all times. Grantsburg finished off the set a winner, in edge-of-your-seat fashion 25-23.
The fourth set went to the Regis Ramblers 25-14, and the match would head to a fifth and deciding set.
The fifth and final set matched the rest of the game, which was a nail biter. That fifth set was exciting all the way to the end. Grantsburg came out on top though, winning 15-13 and taking the match three sets to two. Grantsburg heads back to State.
If you are interested in purchasing tickets to State (Friday and Saturday), they are available at the Grantsburg High School office for eight dollars. There will also be a Pep Fest, where the public will be invited, on Nov. 1 at 8:15am at the Grantsburg High School.
