On Thursday, our Jesse Logan did a live remote in Sandstone with Arrowhead Transit discussing how it has benefited Pine County over the past two plus years. After several interviews, it became apparent that many people are not only using the service, but have come to depend on it to get to necessary appointments, make trips to the grocery store, and get around the county. The final interview of the day was even more insightful, as County Administrator David Minke stopped by to say that the success of the venture means that Pine County no longer has to help support it with around $50,000 in a subsidy as had previously been the case.

Dean Dronen, Veterans Officer for Pine County was killed in a motorcycle accident in Pine County on Thursday afternoon around 2pm. The motorcycle Dronen was driving was hit head-on by a vehicle that Sheriff Robin Cole said was believed to have crossed over the center line. Dronen was ejected from the bike. It was emotional morning with Sheriff Robin Cole. The county is facing several issues including rapes, stabbings, burglaries, drug busts, and wild fires – all while being understaffed. To make matters worse, Dean Dronen, beloved Veterans Officer for Pine County, was killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday. It was not an easy report to get through.
