This weekend in Pine City the two day event, Walkers for Knockers, is taking place to raise more for The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure 60-mile walk. Pizza Pub owner Rick Herzog’s daughter, Amanda, is participating in the walk in this summer, but first her and her team are coming together to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer.

Washington DC – Congressman Jim Oberstar issued the following statement of opposition to a resolution to pull all U.S. forces out of Afghanistan by the end of this year:
“I voted against the second Iraq War in 2002 because I felt we should have fully engaged Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. That’s where our enemies where and we should have concentrated our efforts there, finished the job and secured Afghanistan. Instead, we engaged in an unnecessary and unreasonable war in Iraq without paying for it and it has cost billions and billions of dollars and tens of thousands of U.S. and Iraqi lives. That adventure is now winding down and we are now able to exit that situation with dignity and respect.
A party Sunday night in Northern Pine County ended with one man in the hospital with serious injuries and a teenager behind bars. Austyn Kaufman, 18, is charged with hitting the victim in the head with an aluminum bat causing a skull fracture.

Andrew Youngbloom finished his career as every wrestler dreams, as a champion. Youngbloom won the State Championship in the 140 pound division on Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty says the bonding bill is one “we can work with.” The Governor said Wednesday that he will likely not veto the latest billion dollar proposed borrowing bill, but said he may use his line item authority on some projects.
The bill is about $300 million more than the Governor initially requested, but State Representative Tim Faust (DFL-Hinckley) believes this is an ideal year for a larger bill.

A St. Paul man was arrested Monday in Sandstone after a verbal argument turned violent. John Garbow, 55, faces a pair of charges for allegedly stabbing a woman in the wrist.
