Vikings Season Comes to an End

The Vikings get bounced from the post-season after a 26-14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at the Metrodome, Sunday. The Eagles used an Asante Samuel interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter to take control and a 71-yard Brian Westbrook touchdown in the fourth quarter broke the game open.

Pine City Students Jazzin’ It Up This Weekend

This weekend, the sounds of Broadway come to the Pine City Elementary Auditorium. The 2nd “All That Jazz” Musical Revue will feature some of the greatest show-tunes of the past 100 years, from beloved classics like “The Sound of Music” and “South Pacific,” as well as modern sensations such as “Wicked” and “Hairspray.” The public is encouraged to attend this exciting and family-friendly
evening of song, which takes place on Saturday, January 10 at 7:00 pm in the Elementary Auditorium. Admission is free.

Klobuchar Tells FCC and NTIA to Address Looming Technical Concerns with DTV Transition

Washington, D.C. – In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar continued to push the two agencies to prepare for consumers who may be unable to receive digital television service when the transition takes effect this February. She also pressed them to ensure call centers are staffed with the technical knowledge to help consumers.

The Pine County Sheriffs Office is investigating a New Years Day attempted homicide in Sandstone. Police believe Teri Elizabeth LaSarge, 20, from Sandstone assaulted Wah Bin Mi Gi Si Penie Robertson, 30, from Duluth. LaSarge and Dain Quick are now in custody in the Pine County Jail.

Grandparents Victim of $230K Theft

An 18-year-old Taylors Falls man and 19-year-old Cambridge man are in custody for stealing $230,000. Andrew Selvig, of Taylors Falls, Minn., faces one felony count of theft after police officers found him in possession of $2,000 cash and a fireproof safe belonging to his grandparents. The safe contained between 2,300-2,500 $100 bills from the grandparents restaurant It had been reported missing from their home on Dec. 28.

Harsdorf Appointed to Senate Committee on Agriculture and Higher Education

(State Capitol, Madison). . . State Senator Sheila Harsdorf (R – River Falls) has been appointed to serve as the ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Higher Education. Additionally, Harsdorf will serve on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Utilities, and Rail.

Drills Help Determine Ice Thickness

Several factors affect the relative safety of ice, like temperature, snow cover and currents. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), a cordless, rechargeable electric drill is a new way to check ice conditions and the actual thickness.
