Rep. Tim Faust stopped by WCMP again on Monday morning to provide an update on the weekend’s developments on the budget, and Monday’s to revisit last Thursday’s historic vote on same-sex marriage in Minnesota.

Gov. Mark Dayton and the Legislature’s top Democrats announced that they’ve reached a budget deal on Sunday. The deal reportedly includes income tax increases on wealthier Minnesotans and a cigarette tax increase, while also aiming to provide property tax relief and boosting spending for public schools and other programs.

Our spring broadcast schedule for high school sports continued Friday afternoon on 1350AM WCMP. Josh Miggler was on the call in Cambridge as the C-I Bluejackets hosted the Mora Mustangs in girls softball. Mora defeated the Bluejackets 4-3 in a closely contended game. On Thursday the Minnesota House of Representatives did pass the same-sex marriage bill 75-59 with four Republicans breaking party ranks to vote in favor of same-sex marriage.
