In Polk County, the search continues for two men believed to be in a vehicle that struck and killed two other men on Saturday night. Polk County authorities have now released the names of two men killed in a hit-and-run in the St. Croix Tribe’s Round Lake community.

As we reported on Monday, two men were apparently involved in a fight which spilled into the roadway when they were both struck and killed by a dark colored pickup truck with two occupants. Those men have now been identified as 41-year old Richard Cobenais of rural Luck and 27-year old Benjamin Juarez of Frederic. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Authorities are continuing to ask for the public’s help to locate the pickup, which was said to have a blue plastic barrel in the back.

As we reported on Monday, the driver apparently stopped and got out of the truck to see what he had hit and then continued driving south.

Anyone with information about the fatal crash is asked to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s department at 715-485-8300
