Two More Wisconsin Wolf Hunt Zones Close
Two more wolf hunting zones closed Wednesday night as Wisconsin hunters have harvested wolves at a quick pace.
The DNR announced on Wednesday that they were closeing Zone Five, which covers parts of Eau Claire, Chippewa, Clark and Jackson counties. The limit in that zone was 34 and hunters had killed 33 wolves when the decision was made. Zone One in far northwestern Wisconsin will also be shut down. Another zone was closed last week. Zones two and three remain open though, and those two zones encompass most of our listening area.
The hunt began on October 15th and will run until hunters reach the statewide limit of 251 wolves, or through the end of February, whichever comes first. At this rate, the state’s second hunt will wrap up well before February.
