UPDATE: 35-Year Old Pine City Man Still Jailed, Accused Of Impregnating 12-Year Old Girl
“In July of 2013 Pine County Child Protection received information concerning a 12 year old girl that was reported to be pregnant. Child Protection working in conjunction with Pine County Sheriff’s Investigators determined that the girl was pregnant and she claimed the father to be a juvenile male that had moved from the area. An investigation was initiated into this matter.
Investigators received information from a witness stating that she had observed the girl and the partially clothed adult boyfriend of the girl’s mother, in bed together. This occurred sometime in November of 2012.
The girl gave birth in August of 2013.
Pine County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained search warrants and collected DNA samples from the new born baby, the girl and the adult male. The samples were submitted to the Minnesota BCA for analysis.
The BCA report dated September 4, 2013 showed that that the adult male could not be excluded as the father of the baby, while 99.99998% of the population could be excluded.
After reviewing the BCA report Pine County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Michael Paul Christian (35), of Pine City. Christian was located, taken into custody, and booked at the Pine County Jail on September 4, 2013.
Christian was arraigned in Chisago County District Court on September 6, 2013 for two felony counts of “Criminal Sexual Conduct in the 1st Degree-Penetration or Contact with a Person Under 13 Years Old and the Actor 36 Months Older”.
Each count is punishable by a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and/or a $40,000.00 fine.
Records show that Christian was convicted in 1997 of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree.
Christian is being held at the Pine County Jail.”
