Deadly Lighting Strike Reported In Pine County

A deadly lightning strike took place on Monday evening in Pine County. In a press release we learned that at approximately 7:35 p.m., Pine County Dispatch received a medical call to an address on Alder Loop in Sturgeon Lake, MN.  The caller stated that a man had been struck by lightning and CPR was in progress.

Pine County Deputies, State Patrol, Moose Lake Rescue and Mercy Ambulance were dispatched to the location.  The victim was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake where he died from his injuries.

Further investigation showed that the 53 year old male victim was standing in a large puddle of water near a tree when the tree and the victim were struck by lightning.

Next of kin are being notified and the man’s name is not being released at this time.  This case is pending further investigation.
