UPDATE: Grantsburg Man Killed In Fatal Single Car Crash

Updating a story we reported prevsiously, WCMP/WXCX has learned that the State Patrol has identifyed the man who was killed on Sunday morning in a one vehicle crash in Burnett county. That man is 37-year-old Michael Dahlberg, of Grantsburg.

The Wisconsin State Patrol reports that the accident happened before 8:25 a.m. Sunday, about five miles south of Danbury.

A press release said the crashed vehicle was difficult to locate but it was eventually found in a heavily wooded area over 200 yards north of State Trunk Highway 77.

The initial investigation indicated that the vehicle was eastbound on Highway 77, and went off the right side of the road, then went back on the highway, rolled multiple times and then landed on its wheels but continued into the woods before starting on fire and becoming engulfed in flames.

In a press release we learned that the vehicle completely burned up although it appears that Dahlberg’s body was found near the vehicle.

The State Patrol is not releasing the victim’s name until the family had been notified. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
