Man Arrested In Hinckley After Witnesses Say He Fired Shots Into The Air
On Saturday night, Aug. 10, just before midnight, Pine County Deputies responded to the Willow Winds apartment complex in Hinckley for a shots-fired complaint. Dispatch was informed that there was someone shooting in the parking lot and people were screaming. Witnesses stated that possible suspects had left the scene in a black SUV.
In a press release we learned that responding deputies stopped a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses on Fire Monument Road, while other Deputies and the Minnesota State Patrol arrived at the apartment complex. Officers searched the area for suspects and possible victims. According to several witnesses no one was injured.
Investigators located multiple shell casings in the parking lot and a .22 caliber semi-automatic long gun was recovered nearby.
The preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation occurred and that the identified suspect produced a rifle and fired it widely into the air.
An adult male was identified as that suspect, and was arrested for the probable cause charges of “felon in possession of a firearm,” “reckless discharge of firearm” and “terroristic threats.”
No further information is available at this time, but the case is still under investigation.
