On Saturday, WCMP’s Jesse Logan attended training camp in Mankato and got his first glimpse of the 2013 team. Many new additions to the squad have purple fans excited about the possibilities this season. After being a surprise playoff team last year, hopes in Mankato are high. Several new additions to the squad appear to have addressed some glaring needs

Coach Leslie Frazier (far right) walking out to practice. Coach Frazier will be asked to once again guide this team to the postseason. He’s got some new pieces to work with.

One of those new guys is veteran quarterback Matt Cassel, who has been brought in to be a backup behind third year quarterback Christian Ponder.

WR Cordarrelle Patterson is a player that most fans are very excited about. Patterson stands an impressive 6-3, and has incredible wheels and leaping ability. Below you can see him working with special teams on kick return as he figures to see lots of opportunities in that capacity.

New cornerback Xavier Rhodes is a physical cover corner (#29) who may be asked to start opposite Chris Cook this season.

Even with the new faces, the centerpiece of the team will still be reigning NFL MVP Adrian Peterson, who has set 2500 yards as a goal.

WCMP FM 100.9 is a Vikings affiliate, and will carry all of the games this season. Also, tune in on Saturday mornings at 10 am starting in September for the Big Saturday Football show as Talkin Vikes will be back for it’s fourth season!
