*Update* Local Wrestlers Advance in State Tournament

Andrew Youngbloom picked up his 40th win of the season beating Jason Cirksena of Kasson-Mantorville.  The Mora senior will face Shawn Hatlestad of New London Spicer in the third round at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Youngbloom’s teammate Derek Carlon lost his second round match to Pat Brinkman of New Ulm.

North Branch wrestlers  John Morrison and Jake Kostik both advanced to the third round with wins on Thursday.

A pair of Mora wrestlers are among the local grapplers moving on in the state tournament.  Seniors Andrew Youngbloom and Derek Carlson each won their first round match-ups at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Youngbloom pinned Tim Larson of Windom Area/MountainLake/ButterfieldOdin in the 140 pound division.  With the win, Youngbloom improves to 39-1 and will move on to wrestle Jason Cirksena (32-5) of Kasson-Mantorville.

Carlson advanced in the 285 pound class by beating Matt Kadrlik of Simley.  Carlson (35-1) will face Pat Brinkman of New Ulm in the second round.

North Branch’s John Morrison pinned Jacob Barker of Monticello in the 285 pound class to advance to round two where he will meet Casey Johnson of Kasson-Mantorville.

The Vikings Jake Kostik also made it two the second round in the 119 pound weight class.  He beat Matt Fuller of Annandale/Maple Lake.  Kostik will next face Donovan Sullivan of Kasson-Mantorville.
