Dragons Win Royalton Tourney; Tigers, Blizz Winners

The Pine City Dragons earn early season hardware on the hardwood.  The Dragons girls basketball team won the Royalton tournament Thursday with a 43-21 win over Onamia.

Karina Nordrum poured in a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.  Gretchen Linzmeier added 14 points.   The Dragons are now 4-2 and will play Onamia again Friday.

The Rush City lady Tigers were 58-42 winners over Grantsburg on a game heard on WCMP-FM.

The Pirates have now dropped four straight since their opening night win.

On the ice, the Burnett Blizz took care of business at home against Pine City-Rush City in a border battle.  The Blizz get the 3-2 win.  Anthony Dietmeirer netted the game winner with 3:30 left in the 3rd period.  Blizz goalie Thomas Labatt stopped 40 shots in the game.

Blizz at North Branch Saturday, Dragons play Proctor Thursday.
