Girls Hockey Falls in Home Opener

The Cambridge-Isanti/Mora/Pine City girls hockey team lost their home opener to Forest Lake, 7-1, on Thursday.

The Rangers started fast scoring the games first four goals, including one just 12-seconds into the second period.  The Bluejackets got their only goal 7:15 into the second.  Megan Erickson netted the score with assists coming from Brittany Black and Holly Guerin.

Coach Jeff McCann said, “We were not ready to skate with them and because of their speed they kept steady pressure on us and we started playing a chasing game getting our selves out of position.”

Despite the loss, coach McCann saw some positives.  He said, “I thought the last half of the second period we finally settled down a little and got back to playing our team game when we put our fourth line of Kaity Ripp, Bailey Turnacliff and Alyssa Christenson on the ice for their first shift of the period.”

The Bluejackets fall to 1-1 and will play Saturday at Anoka.
