Football Teams Closer to State

Area football teams are just a game away from the state tournament.  The Mora Mustangs will take on Virginia Friday at Griggs Field in Duluth. The Mustangs beat Greenway/Nashwauk Keewatin 27-12 on Saturday.  Virginia upset Pine City 28-6.  Kickoff for the Mustangs and Blue-Devils is at 6 p.m. on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM.

The Rush City Tigers are also playing for the section crown.  They take on top seeded Moose-Lake Willow River on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Duluth.  Rush City ran through Deer River 33-6 and the Rebels remain perfect with a 40-0 win over Braham.

East Central will try to stay perfect against Ogilvie on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. in Duluth.  The Eagles shutout Chisholm 24-0.
