Successful Start to Playoffs for Area Teams
One round down and many area football teams survive to see round two.
In Pine City, the Dragons were able to beat the Aitkin Gobblers for the second time this month. Pine City picks up the 22-6 win on the legs of Adam Olson and Michael Hansmann. Olson scores three td’s and runs for over 125 yards. Hansmann also ran for over 70 yards in the win. The Dragons will play Virginia Saturday.
A wild one in Mora, but the Mustangs able to outlast the Wolves of Milaca in 27-21 win in overtime. Up next for the Mustangs is Greenway/Nashwauk – Keewatin on Saturday.
The Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets big winners over Elk River, 48-22. The Blujackets go to Brainerd on Saturday. Brainerd is the two seed and had a first round bye.
East Central, who came into the postseason perfect, remains undefeated and had no problems in their first round game taking down Ely 61-0. The Eagles will host the four-seed Chisolm on Saturday.
The Webster Tigers start their postseason looking as good as they have all season with a 28-0 shutout of Northwood/Solon-Springs.
Rush City wins their fourth straight in shutout fashion beating Evelth-Gilbert 34-0. The Tigers will play Deer River on Saturday
Braham gets a tough first round on the road, but answer the call and beat Duluth Marshal 18-7. Hinckley-Finlayson falls to Moose-Lake Willow River 54-0. The Bombers now go on the road to face the Rebels, Saturday.
