Dragons and Pirates Continue Dominance

The Pine City Dragons volleyball team wrapped up a pivotal two game stretch this week with a 3-0 win on the road Thursday over rival Rush City.  The Dragons beat defending co-conference champions Onamia on Tuesday and are now 12-2 and undefeated in the conference.

Head coach Anna Potvin says her team is still not playing their best, but are making strides each game.

Junior Emily Camp is playing some of the best ball of her career.  She leads the team in kills and blocks.  She credits her off-season workouts as the reason for her big year.

Despite the loss, Rush City head coach Eric Telander says his team has done a complete 180 since the start of the season, and says come playoff time, he thinks the Tigers can surprise some teams.

The Dragons will play in a four team tournament in Braham on Saturday.  The Tigers play at Braham in conference play, Tuesday.

The Grantsburg Pirates continue to prove why many believe their season will end with a state title.  The Pirates breeze through Frederic 3-0.  Grantsburg has not lost a set in 14 games dating back to September 12th when they beat Hayward 2-1 for the Ashland Tournament championship game.  The Pirates play at Turtle Lake on Tuesday.
