Area Runners Speedy at Milaca Mega Meet
The Milaca Mega Meet is one of the largest meets of the cross country season. Teams from across the state come to the Stones Throw Golf Course to compete. This year, several local runners and teams finished with some of the best times.
Rush City senior Josh Wurdemann finished fourth overall in the boys Class A race. Wurdemann came in with a time of 17:14. His teammate Houston Carlson finished 15th overall running 18:16.
For the Tigers’ girls, Bryanna Koehnle comes in the top 25. She finished 24th with a time of 17:17.
The Mora Mustangs boys impress with a seventh place finish as a team in Class AA. The Mustangs score 213 points and were led by Tony Nikodym and Jon Amundson who finished eighth and tenth respectively. The lady Mustangs come in one spot better in their team race, finishing sixth. Sophomore Emma Johnson leads the way, finishing seventh overall in the individual race with a time of 15:43. Junior Ashlee Bahlmann finishes at 16:07 and 16th in the individual competition.
The Pine City boys score 464 points for a 19th place finish. Junior Cody Hanson was the top finisher with a time of 18:10, good for 38th place. The Dragons girls finish 15th and were led by a pair of freshman. Sherry Rike comes in 28th place at 16:47 and Abby Cummins finishes 48 with a time of 17:08.
