Hinckley Moves On In Eastern Minny
The Hinckley Knights played their way to a regular season title showdown with Mora and then beat the Blue Devils in a hard fought 2-0 game July 24th at the Brennan. Two days later the Blue Devils lost the final game of the regular season to Isanti giving the outright North title to the Knights.
The North playoffs got underway last week with Mora topping Quamba 9-5 in a first round game Tuesday at a game played in Hinckley. That Mora victory set up another showdown with Hinckley last Friday, July 31st. Once again the Knight rose to the occasion and topped the Blue Devils 7-3. That win secured a spot for Hinckley in the Region 1C Tournament set August 8th thru the 16th in Forest Lake. Truett Kroschel struck out 13 batters on the way to the win and Blake Chaffee drove in three runs.
Mora’s loss forced them into a Sunday elimination match against the Quamba Cubs and the Blue Devils eked out a 3-2 win by scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth. The loss ended Quamba’s season and put Mora into the Region 1C Tourney. Mora will play in Hinckley Tuesday August 4th against the Knights for seeding position in the regions, game time is 7:30 pm at the Brennan.
The schedule of region games won’t be set until Wednesday morning when the last of the qualifying games is completed. Hinckley’s and Mora’s first round games in Forest Lake will be on Saturday August 8th with the time to be determined after this edition has gone to press.
