Friday, June 26th, 2009 at 6:24 am

Two of the top eight amateur baseball teams in Minnesota in 2008 will be in the field as the Hinckley Knights host their annual tournament this weekend at the Brennan.

The tournament gets underway Friday evening with a 6:00 pm game pitting Hinckley’s Knights against the Brooklyn Park Hodags.  The 8:00 pm game will feature the Elko Express, best team in the state last season in Class C, against the Brownton Bruins.

On Saturday the other first round games will be at 10:00 am when the Shakopee Coyotes square off against the Champlin LoGators, and at 12:30 pm the number eight team in Minnesota, the Maple Plain Diamond Devils, take on the Hibbing Miners.  The Miners are the defending champions of the 2008 Knights Tournament and have a strong team again this season.

Adult admission for the tournament will be $5.00 for a single game ticket, or $10.00 for the entire weekend. Students age 18 and under can get a day pass for $3.00 or a weekend pass for $7.00.  Kids 10 and under are free.  The Knights tournament is one of two fundraisers held by the team during the year with all proceeds going for field development and promotion of baseball in the area.  Come out and enjoy some great baseball, lively music, tasty food, cold beverages, and door prize drawings throughout the tournament.
