Pirates, Vikings Move On, Area Baseball Playoffs Start

The Grantsburg softball season has been full of drama, especially the last few games, and it was no different in their first game of the post season.  The Pirates hold on for a 5-4 win over Cumberland.  Pirates improve to 21-1 with the victory and move on to play another home game Thursday.

Also moving on, the Frederic Vikings.  The three seed pulls the upset over two seed Shell Lake, winning 4-1.  With the win, the Vikings advance to play the top seed Birchwood, Thursday.  Birchwood is coming off a 11-1 win over Luck.  The game will be played at Birchwood.

The Minnesota Baseball playoffs  get into full swing today.  Pine City is taking on Cloquet, Rush City on the road against Two Harbors.  The number one seeded Mora Mustangs will take on Crosby-Ironton at home.  The Rangers have  just three wins on the year.  Winners move on to play at Wade Stadium in Duluth on Thursday.
