Gonyea Earns State Player of the Week Award
Pine City baseball pitcher and infielder Taylor Gonyea won MinnesotaSportsOnline.com Hardware Hank Player of the Week award. There are only two athletes in the state picked each week, one boy and one girl.
Gonyea, who had two home runs and threw a complete game one-hitter against Braham Tuesday, received the award for the Dragons first four games when he batted .643 with five RBIs and two homers.
Gonyea, a junior, bats in the two spot for the Dragons. He also scored nine runs in the teams first four games.
Emily Ruegemer of St. Cloud Cathedral is the winner for the girls.
