Twins Fall to M’s in Opener

twins_logo12It wasn’t the Opening Day the Twins envisioned.  Minnesota’s final Opening Day at the Metrodome was dampened by the hot bats of the Seattle Mariners who get the 6-1 win in front of the sellout crowd.

Ken Griffey Jr. is back with Seattle, where he started his hall of fame career, and he looked like his old self with a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Franklin Gutierrez added a two-run homer in the sixth for the M’s.

Felix Hernandez gets the win.  Francisco Lirino picks up the loss.

Twins look for their first win on the year, Tuesday, first pitch at 7:10 p.m. on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM.

The Brewers kick off their season Tuesday.  They are on the road against the Giants and take on reigning Cy Young Award Winner Tim Lincecum.  Jeff Suppan gets the start for Milwaukee.

The Grantsburg Pirates baseball game against Cameron scheduled for Monday was canceled due to wind and cold.  Today, Pine City and Rush City baseball and softball teams kick off their seasons going head-to-head in Pine City.
