In girls’ hoops Tuesday night, the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets advanced to the Section 7AAAA championship game by defeating Forest Lake 52-48.

The Bluejackets (20-8) made 17 of 19 free throws in the second half, thwarting  fierce late-game pressure defense from the Rangers.  Cambridge-Isanti also shot well from beyond the 3-point line, making six 3-point shots in the game.  Whitney Olson had three of those long-range shots en route to a team-high 15 points.  Victoria Ledahl added 11, including going 8-for-8 from the free throw to ice the game, and Savanna Treichel had 10 points off the bench.

Cambridge-Isanti advances to the section 7AAAA finals against the fourth-seeded Blaine Bengals (14-14) who knocked off top seed St. Francis 65-51 earlier on Tuesday.  The game will be played at Irondale High School in New Brighton and can be heard on WCMP-FM with pre-game coverage starting around 6:50 p.m.

Wednesday, Braham’s girls try to earn a trip to the section finals when they take on top seed Deer River at the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Lady Bombers smoked the Warriors 58-29 in their only meeting this year on February 14th.  Hear the action from UMD on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM, beginning at 7:45 p.m.
