High School Volleyball Post-season

High School volleyball’s post-season takes center stage tonight on Red Rock Radio. The Grantsburg Pirates hope to stay undefeated when they take on Washburn at Cameron. You can hear the action beginning at 7 p.m. on 105.7 WXCX. The winner of tonight’s sectional semifinal advances to play Saturday in the sectional final at Osseo-Fairchild.

In Minnesota, the Mora Mustangs are looking to continue on their miracle run. The Mustangs battled back after falling behind to Becker Tuesday. Today, they get Foley at Milaca. You can hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM at 7 p.m.

The Minnesota Timberwolves start the season on the right track. They hold on to beat the Sacramento Kings 98-96 at Target Center. This was the 20th opening night for the franchise which went just 22-60 a year ago. Minnesota was led by Al Jefferson who scored 21 and added 10 rebounds. The T-wolves did get balance in the scoring attack. Six players scored in double digits in the win, including rookie Kevin Love who netted 12. Minnesota gets Dallas at home on Saturday.

The Dallas Stars shined bright at home beating the the Wild 4-2. Minnesota gives up its first power play goal on they year. They fall to 6-1-1. Wild back at home Thursday. They will host the Montreal Canadians at 7p.m.

The Philadelphia Phillies are the World Series champions. Phils hold on for the 4-3 win in game five, which was played over three days because of rain and win. Pitcher, Cole Hamels, wins the MVP. It’s the Phillies first world series crown since 1980.
