Football Playoffs Start Tonight!!!

The high school football playoffs kick off tonight, and there are plenty of local teams looking to make a run at the state championship.

In Pine City, the Dragons are a two seed. They will take on Minneapolis Patrick Henry for the second straight year. The Dragons come into tonights game winners of seven straight and are their Great Polar Blue Division champions. You can hear tonights game on 1350 WCMP-AM, kick off is set for 7 p.m.

Another team hoping to make a deep run in the playoffs is the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets. The Bluejackets are coming off a one point won over Rogers in overtime, they look to keep the magic alive tonight against Anoka on the road. You can hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM, starting at 7 p.m.

Other teams in action this evening, The Rush City Tigers (3-5) hit the road to take on the Greenway Raiders (5-3) in the Class AA Section Seven first round. In the same section, Hinckley-Finalyson host Mesabi East.

If the Mora Mustangs and Pine City Dragons can win their first two in the playoffs, it will set up a meeting of the cross town rivals at St Cloud State on Halloween, but first thing is first for the Mustangs. They start their playoffs with Rockford at home. East Central also playing tonight. They take on an Ely team they beat by 42 last week.

The Volleyball playoffs get underway on Thursday, but on Monday, Pine City and Braham wrapped up their regular season. The Bombers get the win 3-0.

Pine City travels to Foley, Thursday. Rush City gets a home game against Becker. Mora also at home, they take on the same team as the football squad, the Rockford Rockets. All three local teams playing in the Section 5 AA.
