H.S. Football Playoff Schedule, Wild and T-wolves win

The Playoffs are set for High School football teams in Minnesota. Pine City earns the top overall seed in their section. They draw a familiar face in the first round. The Dragons will play Minneapolis Patrick Henry at Saunders Field on Tuesday. Pine City beat the Patriots in the first round last year. Patrick Henry comes into Tuesday’s game 1-7.

The Mora Mustangs also draw a home game in the first round. They play a 2-6 Rockford club. The Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets go to Anoka. East Central faces Ely for the second straight game. The Eagle won, Wednesday, 55-13. Hinckley-Finlayson gets a home contest against Mesabi East. Braham travels to Deer River and Rush City goes to Greenway.

The undefeated Grantsburg Pirates Volleyball team goes to Cameron, Saturday, for a tournament. The Pirates are 26-0 so far.

The Minnesota Wild offense continues to put up big numbers, including SIX goals in Thursday’s 6-2 win over the Florida Panthers on the road. Minnesota improves to 3-0 with the win, and are averaging over 4.5 goals per game. Antti Miettinen scored a pair of power play goals, and Mikko Koivu also netted one on the power play. This is the third straight season the Wild have started 3-0. They go for four straight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, on Saturday.

The Minnesota Timberwolves also picked up a “W” last night. They beat the Toronto Raptors, 90-86. Ryan Gomes led the way with 17 off the pine, and Al Jefferson dropped a workman’s double double, 12 points, 13 rebounds in 26 minutes. The T-wolves are now 4-1 in the pre-season and play the Nuggets Sunday at home.

Hear the Vikings on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM Sunday. The Vikes take on the Bears in Chicago. The Packers can be heard on 105.7 WXCX against the Indianapolis Colts.
