Wednesday Football Lineup, Tues. Vball Scores

It’s a football Wednesday throughout East Central Minnesota. You can hear a pair of games on the Red Rock Radio family of networks.

On 1350 WCMP-AM, Pine City travels to Hinckley Finlayson to take on the Jaguars in a battle of the two top teams in the Great Polar Football Alliance Blue Division. Both the Jags and the Dragons are 4-0, Pine City (6-1) comes in with one more with on the season, Hinckley-Finlayson (5-2). Kickoff is set for 7p.m.

Also tonight, the Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets take on Rogers on the road. Hear the game on Cool Country, 100.9 WCMP-FM. Also in action this evening, Rush City host Braham at 7:30p.m, Milaca goes to Sauk Centre, Mora travels to Melrose, East Central hosts Ely, and North Branch goes to St. Francis.

In Volleyball, The Grantsburg Pirates complete their perfect regular season with a win at home over Turtle Lake. East Central drops Pine city 3-1 on the road. Mora falls 3-1. They lose to Sauk Centre.. Hinckley-Finlayson nips Rush City 3-2. Cambridge-isanti picks up the 3-2 win over Monticello. Floodwood drops Moose-Lake Willow River 3-1.

The Wild improve to 2-0 this year with a 4-2 win over the Thrashers in Atlanta. Andrew Brunette started the scoring with a first period goal. Minnesota added three more in the third, including one by Marian Gaborick, his first this year. Antti Miettinen netted two. Minnesota stays in warm weather states, they go to Florida to take on the Panthers, Thursday.

The Minnesota Timberwolves continue to shine this preseason. They go to Chicago and beat the Bulls, 96-86. With the win, Minnesota improves to 3-1 in exhibition play. Corey Brewer led the way with 15 points and 9 boards. The T-wolves also got double digits from four guys off the bench, Kevin Love, Craig Smith, Rashad McCants, and Ryan Gomes. Minnesota goes to Toronto, Thursday.
