Twins Play for First on Red Rock Radio

No one thought the Twins would be battling for the AL Central Division crown during the final week of the season, except maybe the Twins. During the off-season, Minnesota lost its two most heralded players (Torii Hunter and Johan Santana), but nonetheless, remain in the playoff picture with four games to play. This proves why manager Ron Gardenhire should be at the top of any list for best coach/manager in any sport.

Twins have reloaded with young, enthusiastic talent (Carlos Gomez, Alexi Casilla, Brendan Harris), mixed with consistent veteran play (Justin Morneau, Joe Mauer, Joe Nathan).

Morneau, Mauer, and Nathan are all candidates for MVP and all play hard every night, which many superstars are known to forget over the 162 game season.

Tonight, the Twins have a chance to take the lead in the division and cap off a sweep of the White Sox at the Metrodome. White Sox are just 1-7 at the dome this season.

Hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP – FM, beginning with the pregame at 6:40 p.m.

Minnesota finishes their season at home this weekend against the Royals.

AL Central Division Standings:

Chicago White Sox 86-71

Minnesota Twins 86-72

Cleveland Indians 79-79

Kansas City Royals 73-86

Detroit Tigers 71-86
