As they have done all year, the Twins have responded with their backs against the wall, and in game one of the most important series of the year, the Minnesota bats came alive in a big way. Jason Kubel hit two homers on the night, as the Twins triple up the White Sox, in a 9-3 win at the Metrodome. The win pulls the club within a game-and-a half of the AL Central lead which will be the final playoff spot. The two teams go at it again this evening, with the first pitch set for 7:10. Hear the game on cool country 100.9 WCMP FM. Nick Blackburn takes the bump for the Twins, he’ll face Mark Buehrle.

The Brewers also keeping their playoff hopes alive in dramatic fashion. After giving away the lead in the top of the 8th, Milwaukee battled back and in the bottom of the nineth with a man on, the Prince took his thrown. Prince Fielder blasted a walk-off homer to give the Brewers the 7-5 win over Pittsburgh. Unfortunately for the Crew, they gain no ground on the Mets in the Wild Card, with New York beating the Cubs Tuesday. C.C Sabathia is on the mound tonight for game two against the Pirates.

Hockey kicks off tonight for the Minnesota Wild. The Wild will host the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Xcel Energy Center in preseason play. Minnesota is eyeing a deeper run in the playoffs this year. Despite winning the division, they were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round last year. Tonights game starts at seven.
