Twins and Sox Showdown, Wild Gearing Up

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 at 7:14 am

The Minnesota Twins baseball season comes down to the next three days. Starting tonight, the Twins host the Chicago White Sox at the Metrodome, and the home team comes into tonight’s opening game of the series 2.5 back of the Southsiders in the AL Central. The Twins will finish up their season at home against Kansas City, but to keep their hopes alive they have to start with a win tonight. You can hear the game on cool country 100.9 WCMP-FM starting at 6:40.

The Brewers also start a pivotal three games series tonight. Milwaukee is a game back of the Mets in the Wild Card race, and get Pittsburgh at home for three straight. Milwaukee ended a three game losing streak with an 8-1 win over Cincinnati on Sunday. The good news for Milwaukee is that the Mets haven’t been much better. They too have lost three straight, including a loss to the Cubs Monday.

Former Packers quarterback, Brett Favre, made his Monday night debut as a Jet, and it didn’t go as planned. The Jets were routed by the Charges 48-29. Favre did go 30-42 for 271 yards and three touchdowns. But he also threw two interceptions in the loss.

The Wild are just a day away from getting back to work. Minnesota will start their 2008-2009 campaign tomorrow against Columbus in preseason action. The Wild were bounced from the playoffs by the Avalanche last season and started training camp in North Dakota this past weekend. Puck drops tomorrow at 7p.m. It’s the first of seven preseason games. The regular season starts saturday October 11th against Boston.
