Rays slugger Evan Longoria launched three homers in Thursday game against the Twins, but it doesn’t phase Minnesota who gets the 11-8 win in the opener of the four game series. The win was fueled by five runs in the ninth, including a two run homer by Alexi Casilla.
Minnesota is now just a game-and-half back of the White Sox in the division and will look to gain more ground tonight. Hear the game against the Rays on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM starting at 5:40 p.m.
It might be the end of the road for Milwaukee’s playoff push. The Brewers fall 7-6 to the cubs despite taking a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Geovany Soto hit a three run homer to send the game to extra innings, and a Derreck Lee single ended the game in the twelth. Brewers are now a game-and-half behind the Mets in the Wild Card race and have lost 8 of 10.
