Tuesday’s High School Volleyball Scores:

Rush City 3 Braham 2

Hinckley-Finlayson 3 Pine City 1

New London Spice 3 Mora 0

Cambridge-Isanti 3 North Branch 0

The Minnesota Twins jumped out to a 5-1 over the Blue Jays after four innings, but three homers over the next two innings for Toronto instantly wiped the lead away, and the Blue Jays topple the twins 7-5. Jose Bautista, Alex Rios, and Lyle Overbay provided the long balls, and its was Overbay’s in the sixth that put Toronto on top. Minnesota still shares the division lead with the White Sox who lost 9-3 to Cleveland. Both teams are now four games behind the Red Sox who are starting to heat up winning seven of 10. Game two of three against Toronto is tonight in Canada, Nick Blackburn takes the hill for Minnesota. He faces AJ Burnett. Hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM.

The Twins are limping along, as are the Brewers. Milwaukee has lost two in a row, including Tuesday’s 6-5 loss to the Mets. It took New York 10 innings, but an Endy Chavez sac fly drove home the winning run. The final game of the three game set is the afternoon in Milwaukee at 1:05.

The Lady Gophers hoops squad won’t hit the hardwood for another few weeks, but there is no question who will lead the team. Head coach Pam Borton signed a contract extension through the 2013-2014 season. In six years, Borton is 132-61 with five NCAA Tournament appearances.
