Pine City is 0-1 after Thursday's Loss

The 2008 High School football season is officially underway. In a game heard on 1350 WCMP AM, PIne City falls in their opener 10-0 to Moose Lake Willow River. Pine City moved the ball well but could not convert inside the 30 yard line. Rebels running back Nate Zuk scored the lone touchdown midway through the second quarter. He also added a field goal in the fourth quarter.

The Mora Mustangs open their season in style, routing Long Prairie-Grey Eagle H.S 49-0 on the road. The Mustangs take on New London Spicer next week.

Friday, the Wisconsin football season kicks off. Hear Grantsburg take on Amery at home at 7:00 p.m. Also tonight on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP FM, North Branch hosts Chisago Lakes, that game is slated to kick off at 7:00 p.m.

The Twins are in the midst of a 14 game road trip, and so far its been a challenge. Minnesota loses another close one, this time 3-2 in Oakland. A Nick Punto single in the seventh tied the game at two, but then in the nineth, Kurt Suzuki stepped to the plate with two on to end the game with a walk off double. Twins have lost five of their last six. Game two is tonight against Oakland, hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM, first pitch set for 9:05.

Both the Packers and the Vikings end the preseason with a loss. Green Bay falls 23-21 to Tennessee, but Aaron Rodgers skeptics were silenced when number 12 connected with Greg Jennings for a 68 yard bomb on the first possession. The Vikings fall 16-10 to Dallas. The next time the Packers and Vikings are in action will be against one another on Monday, September 8th.
