Pine City Football 2008 Preview

The Twins needed a win Wednesday. They had lost four in a row, were facing the potential of getting swept by on of the worst teams in baseball, and were losing ground on the division and wild card spots. But as they’ve done all season, Minnesota responded in the face of adversity. The twins entered the eighth inning trailing 3-4, but Jason Kubel tied things up with a double and Brian Buscher followed with a pinch hit single to give Minnesota the win.

Buscher came in for Brendan Harris in a risky move. Buscher has just four hits against left handers this season, including the one Wednesday against Cesar Jimenez. Twins hope the win is the start of much needed streak. They trail the Red Sox by 2.5 games in the Wild Card and the White Sox by a game in the Division. Minnesota is in Oakland for their eighth straight road game. You can hear the Twins game following the Vikings on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM.

The Vikings are wrapping up their preseason schedule. The vikes head to Dallas to take on fellow Super Bowl front runners, the Cowboys. Minnesota will likely sit their starters, including quarterback Tavaris Jackson who continues to rehab his injured knee. Gametime tonight is at 7, and you can hear the game on Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM.

The Packers also wrap up their preseason on Red Rock Radio. They host the Tennessee Titans at Lambeau. The Pack are 1-2 this preseason but are coming off a win against Denver. The Titans are 2-1. Hear the game on 105.7 WXCX, kickoff is set for 6.

The Brewers fall 5-3 to St. Louis and take the 1-1 split in the two game set. The Brewers had a 3-0 lead, but the Cardinals responded with a four run 8th inning. Milwaukee is in Pittsburgh Friday, they have the night off Thursday.
