[Audio] Twins and Brewers Win, Saints Lose
Twins take two out of three from the Yankees at the Metrodome including Wednesday’s 4-2 win. Pitcher Kevin Slowey improves to 2-4 in day games this season. He goes six innings giving up only one run on three hits. On offense, Delmon Young did the damage yet again. He blasted his second three-run-homer in as many games. Young’s home run came in the bottom of the fourth. Brian Buscher added a sac fly in the 6th to give the twins a cushion. Twins remain a half game behind the White Sox in the division, and two-and-a-half behind Boston in the wild card race. Twins are off today, but begin a three game set with the Mariners at the dome on Friday.
Hear Wednesday’s Highlights:
The Twins are looking for position in both the division and wild card, as are the Brewers, and baseball’s hottest team has opened up a four game lead in the wild card by grabbing their 8th straight win beating San Diego 7-1. Prince Fielder opened the game with a first inning homer, his 28th this season. And C.C. Sabathia improves to 7-0 since joining the club last month. He goes seven innings, giving up one run on nine hits. Brewers are looking for their second straight series sweep this afternoon in San Diego.
The Lincoln Salt dogs clipped the Saint Paul Saints 4-2. Despite giving up just seven hits, the Saints were plagued with two costly errors. They hope to fair better at home, starting tonight against the Witchita Wingnuts. First pitch at Midway stadium is set for 7:05 p.m.
