Andrew Youngbloom finished his career as every wrestler dreams, as a champion. Youngbloom won the State Championship in the 140 pound division on Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. The senior is moving on to South Dakota State University next fall, but first, he and his coach (and dad) take a look back at his magical career and journey to the top.

The Cambridge-Isanti Bluejackets girls need overtime to keep their season alive. They sneak past Blaine 60-57 and will play in the section final against St. Francis in North Branch on Friday. Bluejackets head coach and section Coach of the Year Jody Ledahl spoke with WCMP’s Dan Hinrich’s after his teams thrilling win.

The Braham Bombers are just one game away from capturing their second consecutive section championship. The Bombers dismantled Two Harbors 70-37 Tuesday at the Romano Gymnasium in Duluth.

Braham native Noah Dahlman scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Southern Conference tournament final on Monday to help Wofford make its first ever NCAA tournament appearance. Wofford beat Appalachian State 56-51. Dahlman is averaging 17 points-per-game this season.

Mora senior Andrew Youngbloom capped off a storybook career Saturday when he won the 140 pound state wrestling championship at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Youngbloom defeated Dan Dick of Simley 4-0 in the final round.

A big second half run by the Esko Eskimos ended Rush City’s chance at a second playoff upset. The Eskimos ended the Tigers’ season with a 71-55 win at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Becca Dahlman scored 29 points for Braham in their 69-54 win over Mora Saturday at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. The Bombers took a nine point lead into halftime, but the Mustangs cut the lead to four with 5:00 to play. The Bombers used a late run to secure their spot in the section semi-final on Tuesday against Two Harbors.
