Pavano Signs 2-Year Deal With Twins
Ladies and Gentlemen, the mustache will return.
Carl Pavano and the Twins have agreed on a two-year, $16.5 million contract, meaning the popular right-hander will be back to provide stability to the team’s rotation. Mustache and all.
Pavano had several offers on the table (surprisingly he even considered a return to the New York Yankees) before ultimately deciding to stay with the Twins.
On a conference call, the 35-year old Pavano told reporters that he was excited to return to Minnesota, adding: “When you go through free agency, there’s a lot of big decisions that you have. Obviously I couldn’t walk away from the rapport I have with my teammates, the staff and the organization.”
Pavano went 17-11 last season with a 3.75 ERA. Even more impressive for a guy who had struggled with injury, Pavano pitched 221 innings and became one of the key pitchers on a team that won the AL Central.
