Vikings Backup QB Controversy
The Minnesota Vikings preseason concluded on Thursday night with a 31-24 victory over the visiting Denver Broncos, but the drama was also unfolding in the locker room after the game.
Tarvaris Jackson, believed to be the backup QB, played very poorly (all preseason) and was noticeably upset when talking to a very large group of reporters. Jackson was booed by fans when he left the game after going 2-of-8 for 2 yards.
Sage Rosenfels, believed by some to be on the trading block, outplayed Jackson all preseason. In fact, the veteran put up 402 yards and 4 TD’s during exhibition play (T-Jack had just 60 yards passing in 4 games), and talked about his state of mind going forward.
Rookie Joe Webb was the hit of the night. When Webb entered the game, the crowd gave him a large ovation and supported him vigorously throughout (despite a bad INT) his time on the field. Webb appears confident that he’ll make the final roster.
It remains to be seen if the Vikings will continue to shop Rosenfels, but most fans we asked thought Jackson should be cut or released over Webb or Rosenfels.
