Favre Plays, Vikes Lose 15-10
Brett Favre fans didn’t have to wait long to see their hero in action. Favre just reported to the Vikings last week, and got his first action of the preseason Sunday night (Aug. 22) in a 15-10 loss against the San Francisco 49ers. Favre, who has elected to return for his 20th season, lasted just 4 snaps in his debut, but one was quite memorable.
After completing a 13 yard-pass to Adrian Peterson, Favre was welcomed back by one of the best middle linebackers in the game. Patrick Willis blew through the line and knocked the silver-headed QB for a loop, but Favre was OK. He was seen throughout the entire second half joking and laughing on the sideline.
Favre is expected to play the entire first half on Saturday when the Vikes face off against the Seahawks at Metrodome.
Vikes fans also got a glimpse of the future at the QB position as Joe Webb looked very sharp late in the game. Webb finished 7 of 14 for 43 yards, but had an eye opening 48 yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
Adrian Peterson played a few series, and ended up with a combined 42 yards on nine touches.
