After a tough battle against the Virginia Blue Devils on Thursday night, the Braham Bombers are back in action tonight from Duluth. Braham needs to win a Section Championship this evening, and they will be back in the State Tournament next week. However, Saturday’s opponent is a quality foe in the Esko Eskomos. Yes, the same two schools that met last week in a memorable girls final will be squaring off tonight in the boys final.
The Bombers have a jaw-dropping 28-1 record this season with a 28-game winning streak. Braham is rightfully ranked #1 in the State in Class 2A, but due to a mathematical equation used in the section seedings, Esko has earned a top seed while the Bombers were seeded #2. The Bombers will want to prove that seeding was a mistake and will also want to get back to State after missing out last season.

One year ago, in the Section Semi-Finals, the Braham Bombers boys basketball team was bounced from the postseason by the Virginia Bluedevils. Virginia was led that night by a solid senior duo of Mitch Buck and Calvin Stackpool, while the Bombers had to do their best without Coach Bob Vaughan on the sidelines. Vaughan was dealing with health problems at the time, and his team really missed his leadership.

The New Richland H-E-G Panthers are the only undefeated girls team in Class 2A, with a 31-0 record. The Bombers lost 75-45.
Braham’s Rebekah Dahlman keeps adding more accolades and more records to her already impressive resume. Dahlman is now the all-time career points leader in Minnesota girls basketball history with 3895 points, she scored 29 points in the game. Dahlman has recently been announced as the Pioneer Press girls basketball player of the year. Last Thursday night she hit a crucial 3-pointer to tie up the Esko game in the first overtime, and on that shot, Dahlman also set the girls state record for most points in a season. This is the Bombers fourth straight trip to the State Tournament.
