Braham Bombers are Great River Champions (Audio)
The #2(2A) Braham Bombers boys team won the Great River Conference Championship last night beating East Central 71 -35. It was a packed house in Braham for the big game. Before the game got started emotions were running high and the crowd gave an enormous standing ovation as Head Coach Bob Vaughan made his first appearance in a few weeks after suffering some health issues.
The game didn’t start out the way Bombers fans would’ve liked it to though, as the Eagles looked good jumping out to an early 10-7 lead. After the slow start the Bombers got into a rhythm on offense and defense and at the half led 41-22. In the second half it was all Braham as their defense shut down the Eagles, only allowing them to score 13 points in the second half. With the 71-35 win, Braham clinched another championship, but still have their eyes set on their ultimate goal, a state championship.
The Bombers were led in scoring by Tyler Vaughan and his 16 points, 14 of which came in the first half. Ben Thiry made four 3-pointers and ended the game with 13 points. Cameron Braund also had a big night with 15 points.
Our Jesse Logan talked with Tyler after the game and got his thoughts on the win as well as the crowds reaction to his dad returning to the team.
Jesse also caught up with Ben Thiry after another championship win.
The Bombers have two games remaining. Legacy Christian on Tuesday, March 1 and Mora on Friday, March 4.
