The Pine City Dragons won their opener on Friday night (Sept. 3) over the Proctor Rails by a score of 14-0.

Senior tailback Adam Olson scored two touchdowns in the contest, the first of which came from 24 yards out with 11:03 remaining in the second quarter.

The halftime score was 8-0 as Olson also converted a 2-point try after his touchdown.

The final 6 points of the game came late in the fourth quarter on a 34-yard TD gallop by Olson, just moments after he stripped the ball from a Proctor ball carrier on defense.

The Dragons defense also played very well throughout the contest. Junior Joey Pangerl was disruptive along the line, Junior Nick Cummings had an interception, and Senior James Taylor also had an interception.  The Rails had just 18 net yards at halftime.

Senior Mike Hansmann had a very long TD run called back on a penalty.

Joe Wolf caught up with Adam Olson after the game to get Olson’s thoughts on the contest.
