Minnesota Wild Head Coach Mike Yeo was offered a contract extension on Saturday after carrying the team into the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs this past spring.

Wild GM Chuck Fletcher made the announcement on Saturday, signing Yeo to a multi-year contract extension in his third year at Wild head coach. Specific details such as the extension time and salary have not been disclosed.

Fletcher said during the conference, “Mike has done a very good job the last three seasons as our Head Coach and we look forward to his leadership going forward,”.

Yeo’s portion of the conference included some words of excitement; he said “Our fan support has been amazing and it went to a new level during the playoffs this season. We are all motivated to reward them.”

The Wild defeated the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs through seven games. The Chicago Blackhawks would eventually eliminate the Wild in game 6 of the second round.
