Tourism In Douglas Co. On The Rise
New numbers from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism show that Douglas County experienced an impressive boost in tourism during the summer of 2013.
The numbers, released last week as a state-wide demographic, show that Douglas County saw more growth in visitor spending than any other county throughout Wisconsin. Visitor spending grew more than 10% in the county for 2013.
The industry’s impact on the state overall also increased last year. A study conducted by Tourism Economics shows the impact of tourism on the state’s economy was $17.5 billion in 2013, up 4% from the previous year.
Douglas Co. is touted as a strong resort community, thriving in both summer and winter months.
