De Aza And ChiSox Ruin Ricky’s Opening Day Twins Debut
Alejandro De Aza hit two home runs and Chris Sale worked into the seventh inning as the Chicago White Sox beat the Minnesota 5-3 on Opening Day. Twins starter Ricky Nolasco gave up five runs on 10 hits in six innings of work in the loss.
Chicago opened the scoring with De Aza’s 2-run homer in the second inning. The Twins tied the game with a Kurt Zuzuki two-out, two-run single in the third. He would add a third RBI in the eighth inning.
Chris Colabello went 2 for 4 and Aaron Hicks went 2 for 3 for the Twins.
Minnesota and Chicago will play again Wednesday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field. Kevin Correia of the Twins is expected to face Felipe Paulino of the White Sox.
