After nearly 59 years as a head coach in Minnesota (53 spent in Chisholm), Minnesota Basketball Hall-of-Famer Bob McDonald saw his last career game in a Section 7A playoff matchup against Bigfork.

According to WDIO, McDonald ironically received career wins #999 and 1000 in the same gymnasium that hosted Friday’s game. Unfortunately, Chisholm would fall 49-37 to Big Fork.

After the game, McDonald said “It has been a wonderful run, there is no question about that and it would’ve been nice to go out with something a little bit better than we have done, but our kids played decently enough and we played against a good team and you have to give them (Bigfork) credit for being able to subdue us. I will always have a fondness in my heart for Chisholm and Chisholm people”

McDonald announced before the start of the season that this would be his last as a basketball head coach. His career record stands at 1,012-428, including 11 state tournament appearances and three State Titles.
