A Cumberland woman has died after her vehicle collided with a train in Baldwin.

WEAU reports the accident happened around noon on Wednesday on Highway 12. The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department says the 69-year-old woman was a passenger in a truck that was crossing the tracks. The driver, a 69-year-old man from Cumberland, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The sheriff says the truck was leaving a business and crossed the tracks. The driver noticed the train and tried to back up, but the train hit the vehicle on the passenger’s side.

This is the second death at a train crossing in St. Croix County in the last two days.
