Trouble Paying Heat Bills? Energy Assistance Available

Friday, January 24th, 2014 at 6:55 am

It’s been a brutally cold winter, and the fact is that some of our friends and neighbors are struggling to keep their homes heated during these cold months.

Low-income households may be eligible for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP). The program assists with energy bills, primarily through grants paid to the energy provider on behalf of the household. Funding is limited, so consumers are encouraged to sign up early.

The program runs from Oct 1st, 2013 through May 30th, 2014. Lakes & Pines administers the Energy Assistance Program on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Commerc and their local service area includes Aitkin, Carlton, Kanabec, Pine, Mille Lacs, Isanti, and Chisago counties.

If you’re having a hard time paying your heating bill, please contact Lakes and Pines for more info at 800-832-6082.
