Polk County Featured At 44th Annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Show
ST. PAUL, MN—Polk County was on display at the 44th annual Minnesota Sportsmen’s Show at the St. Paul River Centre, Jan, 9-12.

The Polk County Tourism Council contracts with Indianhead to bring Polk county promotional material to six regional travel and sports shows. Next up for promoting Polk County, will be the Greater Northwest Vacation, Camping and RV Show in Minneapolis, MN, Feb. 7-10. The Annual Fishing & Outdoor Show in Rockford, IL, Feb. 8-10. The Annual Boat, Sport and Travel Show in Indianapolis, IN, Feb. 15-24. The Milwaukee Sentinel Sports Show, Milwaukee, March 6-10, and the East Iowa Boat, RV and Vacation Show, Cedar Falls, IA, March 15-17.
Polk County prints and distributes 15,000 guidebooks and 100,000 rack cards a year across the Midwest to travel information centers, chambers of commerce, and retail establishments that are visited by regional travelers. The guidebooks feature information and maps of where to go and what to do in Polk County as well as specific information on the cities and villages and what they offer to visitors and residents alike.
Visitor spending in Polk County was up 5.9% in 2012 over the previous year, the August 2013 sales tax in Polk County was the most ever collected in one month. Polk County’s ½ % sales tax will result in $2.5 million used for tax relief in the 2014 county budget.
